What is Market-Based Pricing (MBP)?

Market-based pricing--sometimes called competition-based pricing--is pretty upfront about what it is: basing real used-car prices on real market figures. It means that our team will assign a price to a pre-owned vehicle based on rates that we see in the greater Durham, Raleigh, and Chapel Hill areas. This practice has become more and more popular among honest car dealerships who want to do best by their clients.

Even for those other car dealers, though, MBP is a necessity, because the modern car shopper has instant access to hundreds of websites, and to smart new tools that can sort used cars, trucks, and SUVs by price within 75 or even 100 miles. If you can't keep up with technology, you're going to fall behind.

We do this for the confidence and satisfaction of the shopper, first and foremost, because it works in our favor about as often as it doesn't.
